TOPIC : AWARENESS ON ROAD ACCIDENTS

INTRODUCTION
The concept of conscientization is the process of developing a critical awareness of one's social reality through reflection and action. The concept of conscientization is linked with the work of Paulo Fraire and especially his pedagogy of the oppressed. The definition given byPaulo Fraire in his cultural action for freedom is that "conscientization" refers to the process in which men are not mere recipients, but as knowing subjects achieve a deepening awareness of both of the socio, cultural reality which shapes their lives and of their capacity to transform that reality. Conscientization means to gives conscious awareness to people on certain issues that need urgent improvement. The objective of conscientization is to power the knowledge by facilitating a learning process that would develop critical conciousness. It also aims at developing a critical awareness to that individual can take action against the oppressive element.

NEED AND SIGNIFICANCE
The conscientization programme was conducted for the ninth standard students of N.S.M.G.H.S Kottiyam. The awareness was provided to the students for generating an idea about the traffic rules and signals, because the number of road accidents are increasing daybyday. I   selected this topic "AWARENESS ON ROAD ACCIDENTS" because todays children are tomorrows citizens. So it is very important to know about the causes of increasing road accidents.
Most of the road accidents can be avoided by giving proper care and attention. Time is a major factor. So we must always travel in tbe right time with limitted speed. Time will never wait for us. So it is our duty to always start our journey early. The main ain of the programme is providing awareness to the students to increase their knowledge regarding the causes of road accidents.

OBJECTIVES
a) To create an awareness among students about road safety rules.
b) To create an idea about the major causes of road accidents.
c) To find out the solutions for reducing road accidents.
d) To develop an idea about traffic rules and traffic signals.

REPORT
The conscientization programme was conducted for the ninth standard students of N.S.M.G.H.S  on the topic "Awareness on road accidents". The programme was conducted on 29th November 2018,thursday. The programme was inaugurated by our Headmistress smt. Beena David and the physical science teacher smt.Linta also participated. The class was conducted during the afternoon session. The students were eagerly waiting for the programme. At first I introduced the class by asking about the most common news in the news papers. Then I enterd into my topic and talked about it deeply. At first I discussed about the reason for road accidents, then I explained each of the factors regarding road accidents and finally by using a video I discussedabout how traffic rules and signals help us for reducing road accidents.

REFLECTION
After the awareness class and the presentation of the video, the students were asked to express their opinion regarding the class andtell what they recieved after the class. Anakha and Fathima came infront of the class and expressed their opinion regarding the awareness they recieved after hearing the class and watching the video.
Both the students were representatives of the whole class and they expressed their sincere thanks for conducting this type of a class and also talked about what they could understand from the class. They told that, they will always abide the traffic rules and obey traffic signals. Also they will discuss in their family about the class. Ifelt happy about how the programme could influence the students. The students also got an idea about the causes of increasing
road accidents and also about how can it be reduced. So by conducting this programme by using proper and effective education system the students were willing to obey traffic rules.

CONCLUSION
For building up a new generation committed to the development and well being of the society appropriate trainning and motivation is important. The main aim of conscientization programme is to build a dynamic change force never compromising with the status quo of the traditional thinking, attitude and habbits.
Paulo Fraire in his book says that failure of a society lies on the ignorance and lethargy of a good majority of people. In the book he explains about the importance of education and how education can be used for the conscientization of the individual for their liberation. The conscientization helps to think deeply for our future. It helps to work together and serve our society.
Education is never concerned with acquiring knowledge but it also aims to serve our society. So in participating conscientization every students will became better citizens for the society. Education should serve as a means to arouse, sustain and perpetuate increasing change and growth of the society.

Siixth week

On sixth week we had got only one working day 10/12/2018. Because we extended our teaching practice from 31st December to 10th January due to the xmas exam. I got only one period in 9A and I completed the chapter refraction of light.

Fifth week

The fifth week started on 3/12/2018 to 7/12/2018. On monday I got two periods in 9A and I completed my two lesson plans. I studied refractive index and total internal reflection. On tuesday l got two perids in 9A and I studied lens and rules for drawing ray diagram. Wednesday in 9 A I studied about the image formation of lens and problems in refraction of light. Also I got some substitution periods in 9C. There also I studied about refraction.
On thursday I had got one period in 9A . By using inquiry training model I studied about eye. Then I got a period in 8D .I made a good revision of the chapter solution and discuss many questions from the chapter. On friday I got two periods in 9A and l completed a lesson transcript. At the afternoon session christmas celebration was organized by each class. We also participated the function. Totally it was a nice experience for me.

Fourth week

The fourth week started on 26/11/2018 to 1/11/2018. On monday I had a period in 9th standard and I completed my lesson plan law of conservation of energy in work energy and power.
On tuesday l had a period in 9th standard and I completed my lesson plan power in work energy and power in physics. Our option teacher observed my class and she give necessary instructions and guidance for me, also pointed out my strength and weakness. I should try to avoid all my weakness in the following classess.
On wednesday I had a period in 8th standard I completed the lesson plan softdrinks in solutions.I completed the units solutions. On thursday I conducted my conscientization programme about the topic awareness on road accidents in nineth standard. Our headmistress smt.Beena David inaugurated the class, and our physical science teacher smt.Linta were presented the class. I used a video presentation for conveying the topic and finally three students give their reflection about my class.
I got two periods in 9th standard and I started the unit refraction of light. I completed my two lesson plans refraction and refraction through different media. Totally I completed my objectives in a betterway by using my learning aids.

Third week

The third week started on 19/11/2018 to 24/11/2018. On monday I got a period in 9th A and I completed my physics lesson plan energy. Tuesday was a holiday.
               On Wednesday and thursday there was no regular class due to subdistrict youth festival. We had allotted fo some duties. So we helped the students for there programme and managed students. Many students from our school participated in different programmes.
             Friday I got a period in 8th standard and I studied the charateristics of different solutions. A rally was conducted in our school by KCSL students. We give necessary instructions to students for participating  the rally. Saturday was a working day . I  got two periods in 9th A and I completed my two lesson plans kinetic energy and potential energy from the unit work energy and power.
           Totally I completed my four lesson plans in this week and I achieved my objectives sucesfully.
          

Second week

The second week of our school internship starts on 12/11/2018 to 16/11/2018. On monday I got two periods in 9th.A. It was my first class in nineth standard. So I made a small introduction about my self and I establish a good rapport with the students. Then I started my first lesson plan work. The next peiod I completed my second lesson plan factors influencing work done.
          On tuesday I had a period in 9th.A. I completed the next plan work done against gravitational force in physics. A programme was organised on wednesday   (14/11/2018) as a part of childrens day. We also helped the teachers and students for success of the programme.
       On wednesday we reached the school early. A special assembly was organised and several programmes were presnted by the students. Our Headmistress give a wonderful speech and declared itvas a day for students. At the end of the assembly a rally was conducted on school ground. I had got two periods in 8th standard at afternoon section . So I  completed my two lesson transcripts in solutions(crystal growth and classification of mixtures).
        On thursday l had no periods. So I prepared my leaning aids. On friday I had only period in 8th standard and I completed my chemistry lesson transcript in solutions(true solutin,colloids and suspension). Totally I completed my six lesson transcripts in this week.

Nineth week

This was the last week of our teaching practice. This week started on13th august. On that day our juniors oberved our class as demonstration class. The next day was the last day of our teaching practice.we spent more time with students and collected their reflections about me. Then l gave necessary instructions and guidance for them . I give sweets to them. Finally I successfuully completed my school internship programme.

Weekly reflection -School internship phase 2

First week
Our second semester school internship programme started on 5th November.
As a part of this we(nine training teachers)were selected the school N.S.M.G.H.S Kottiyam. But it was a declared holiday. Then we started our training programme.we reached the school at 9.30pm. First we met our Headmistress.  She give her blessings and necessary instructions for us. Then we signed the register and met our option teacher. We discussed about the topic and periods allotted for us. I got both physics and chemistry portions. In eighth standard I got the chapter solutions and in nineth standard I got work energy and power and refraction of light.
                 First day I got two hours in 8D. It was my first class so first I introduced myself and establish a good rapport with the students. Then l started my first lesson plan -solutions(Chemistry). I conducted some classroom activities and scuessfully completed my lesson plan. I got an extra periodin 8D and l studied my second lesson plan (Chemistry). It was C.V.Ramman's birthday so there was a speech competion conducted for high school students. At 4.00pm the bell rang we went back home. I had no regular periods on second day.
    The third day( 9/11/2016) I got two periods in 8D and I completed my two lesson plans in chemistry- concenration of solution and supersaturated solutions. Totally it was a great experience for me and I completed my four lesson plans sucessfully.

Ninenth week

The ninenth week started on 13th August. I got three periods on monday. So first l give the paper of the achievement test. Then l give a remedial teaching for the difficult part of the test.
The next our was a demonstration class for my seniors. I studied the topic friction.
Afternoon section I conducted my diagnostic test.
The next day was our last day of my teaching practice.so we give some sweets for all teachers and students.l

Eighth week

Eighth week started on sixth August. On tuesday there was no regular class due to motor vehicle strike. P.T.A meeting was conducted on wednesday. So I helped my option teacher for preparing class base mark lists. The P.T.A meeting was started at 2.00pm. So there was no regular class at afternoon section.
Thursday was also no regular class due to rain holiday. Friday our option teacher Vidhya miss observed my class. Studied the topic contact force and non contact force. After my class she talked about my class and also pointed my strength and weekness. I should try to avoid all my weekness in the follwing classes. Also
I conducted my achievement test at afternoon section.
Totally this week give me a new experience.

Seventh week

The seventh week started on 30th July.On thursday 2nd august our principal observed my class. She gave her suggestions and necessary instructions for me. She pointed our merits and demerits for us. I got my four regular periods and some substitutional periods for me.
I tried to avoid all my negative points and improve my teaching.
I got more oppertunities to communicate with students. 
Totally l am satisfied in this week because l suceesfully completed my lesson plans.

Sixth week

The sixth week started on 23rd July. I got my four regular periods and some additional periods. On friday a science seminar was conducted by science club. We also helped the students. A test was conducted with the help of my option teacher. Then I prepared a marklist on the basis of that test.

Fifth week

The fifth week started on 16th July. There was only three working days on that week. On monday due to heavy rain our collecteor announced it as a holiday. On thursday due to educational strike there was no regular classes. I got my three regular periods and some additional periods so I completed my lesson plans successfully.

Fourth week

The fourth week started on 9th July. On 12 th July PTA meeting was conducted at afternoon section. So there was no regular class at afternoon section.I got my four regular periods and some additional periods on that week.so l successfully completed my lesson plans.

Third week

The third week started on 2nd july.l got four regular periods and three additional periods on that week. Due to SFI strike there was no regular class on tuesday. At 10.30am headmistress grant the permission to leave the school. Then we signed the register and left home. There was another strike on that week. It was on wednesday. We reached the school at 9.30am. We signed our register and left home with the permission of our H. M.Totally l successfully completed my lesson plans with the help of my learning aids.

Second week reflection

The second week started on 25th monday. I got six regular period and three additional periods on that day.l successfully completed my six lesson plans with the help of my learning aids.on 26th june tuesday we conducted a special assemly on the basis of anti drug day. All the teachers and students took an oath against the use of drugs. The next day was N.S.M. day. So we reached the school early    morning.There was a special assembly and the  headmistress made a wonderful speech. The inauguration of all clubs and KCSL was also conducted on that assembly. All the programs were arranged by teachers and PTA. I got a wonderful experience on that week.

Weekly reflection

My weekly experience in schoool induction
                       First week

As a part of third semester BEd curriculum school induction program I went to N.S.M.G.H.S Kottitam for my teaching practice on 20/06/2018.First day I reached the school at 9.30am.First we went to the office met the headmistress.She welcomed us and give her blessings.Then she introduced us for the whole school and alloted a room for us. Then we signed the register and met our option teachers, they also give necessary instructions and guidances for us.At 9.45am the assembly started.After the assembly section all the teachers and students went their classroom.
                     On that day I had only two hours in afternoon section.so I utilized the morning section for visiting laboratory and the teacher who has the lab charge.She gave us permission for using lab equipments and other necessary things.At 12.45pm the bell rang for lunch break .we joined the noonfeeding section.It was a great experience for us.After the lunch break I went to VIIIth G .It was a malayalam medium class and physics was my subject .I utilized that period for introducing myself and create an idea about my students . I gave an idea about physics and chemisty.After the interval section I had an another hour inVIIIth D.It was an English medium class and chemistry was my subject.I had a friendly talk with them and introduced me. Then I gave an idea about my subjects .At 4.00pm the bell rang .There was a prayer at the end of the school for saying thanku for all blessings of that day.After the national anthem we signed our register and went back home.Totally it was a great day.
         The next day I reached the school at 9.35am.First I went to the office and signed my register.I got some additional periods on that day so I started my lesson plans early.I spent my free time for peer observation with my classmate Febina. At 12.45pm the bell rang and we went to noonfeeding section. After the lunch break I had two periods in VII th G. I taught physics and chemistry in each period. At 4'O clock the bell rang for national anthem. Then we signed our register and went back home.
         The third day of my teaching practice I reached the school at 9.20am. Because it was a friday and the assemly starts at 9.25am. We signed our register and went our room. I had only one hour on that day,but I get two additional periods in VIIth G.The lunch break starts at 12.30pm and ends at 1.45pm.After the lunch break I went VII th D and studied chemisrty. At 4'O clock we signed our register and went back our home. This was my first week school experience.
